When Mary Ritchie got married last year it led not only to a new life but a new business too. Mary started BMK Recruitment Ltd in October 2003, providing catering staff for high profile functions as well as weddings, dinners etc.

After planning her own wedding last year Mary decided to expand the business to incorporate wedding and event management services so she completed a diploma in Wedding and Event Management and the new business – Southwold Weddings started from there. Then along came the opportunity to acquire the website www.southwoldweddings.co.uk from Erika Clegg who had successfully managed it for the last 2 years, but was however unable to continue with it due to other business commitments. So this added an extra service for brides, a local directory of suppliers offering services ranging from photographers to honeymoon specialists.

Mary now runs both businesses from her home in Carlton Colville and since starting Southwold Weddings in June, Mary is now planning a number of weddings for local brides ranging from full co-ordination to just providing assistance on the day. She says that planning a wedding can take on average 200 hours which includes a lot of routine details. Mary says: “We can ensure that you will not have to spend 200 hours of your precious time on aspects that are mundane and time consuming – instead you can concentrate on the fun details and most importantly each other in the lead up to the biggest day of your life.”
